Privacy Policy
Privacy is important and can also be incredibly confusing. This page explains our approach to privacy on all our web estate, including the Competito application.
Simplified version
- We collect anonymous statistics about your visit to our website, for example, which page you viewed.
- If you sign up with us we will take care of your data and will not share this data to anyone without your expressed consent.
- We never share your data with 3rd parties except to help us deliver our own services.

Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Measuring our visitors
We measure visitors to our service using Google Analytics. This service records what pages you have viewed, how you arrived to the site and some basic information about your computer and browser.
We anonymize this data in Google Analytics to ensure we do not know who you are. We only know somebody visited the site.
The information we collect helps us understand how people use our website and allow us to provide a better services to our customers.
Google Analytics deletes all tracking data after 26 months from your visit.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Live chat
We use Drift chat so you can talk to our agents to help provide the service or answer any questions you may have with regard to purchasing. Much like analytics, Drift stores information about your activity on the website.
Whilst you are browsing your information is anonymized. Drift only knows your email address and name if you choose to provide that when contacting our agents. However, when logging into our tool, your basic details are provided to our agents via Drift to help us identify and resolve issues you have quicker.
Drift data is deleted 9 months after your visit.
If you signup
When you sign up for or use any of our services – paid or otherwise – we will record specific personal information about you, such as your name and email address.
We will also collect and store information about your use of our services to improve them. For example, we keep a log of what features are being used at any time.
We also log account and transaction history for accounting purposes, and to monitor our business activities.
Any data you provide us with is securely stored in databases managed by us, and hosted by Amazon AWS. Amazon does not have access to your data.
We delete your data from our servers 12 months after you terminate your service with us. We may retain some information where it is legally necessary (e.g. for accounting reasons). If you wish for us to delete your personal data sooner, please email us at lee@competito.app.
Improving your experience
Once logged in to one of our products, we may also track your visit using Hotjar.
This service records your activity while using our products so that we can analyze the experience of our users and diagnose problems. Sensitive data, such as passwords and payment details, are obscured from the recordings.
You can opt-out to the use of these services across all apps (not just Competito products) using the following links: Hotjar opt out and FullStory opt out.
Emails
We may email you from time to time about the service we are delivering to you. You can opt-out of these emails by simply following the link in the email to unsubscribe.
Paying for our services
Competito uses Stripe to handle payments. When paying for this service Competito does not store any of your card information, this information is stored securely by Stripe following SCA rules. We only share critical information with our payment providers to ensure payment can be taken and the service fulfilled.
Internal communication
We use Slack and email for internal communication. In order to fulfil their duties, staff may from time to time share basic customer contact details with colleagues, such as name and address. In all cases our staff treat personal details with care and abide by our data protection policies.
Security
Competito will take all precaution to prevent data loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information.
These precautions include:
- Use of SSL encryption for sensitive data.
- SCA compliance on payments.
- All access to information restricted by passed and/or secure keys.
- Restrictions to what information can be accessed via any location.
- Use of two-factor authentication for administrative accounts on our services by Competito staff.
Whilst we take great care to ensure any confidential details remain protected we cannot guarantee the security of data sent over the Internet.
You are responsible for keeping your details confidential. Members of staff at Competito will never ask you for your password.
